Boys will be boys...

As Steve says, Colby had his initiation into boyhood a couple days ago. He tried to see if he could ride his car down the basement stairs, and well...the stairs won. Thankfully a small break was the only result and Colby has been super brave the whole time and immediately adapted to the cast like he's had it his whole life. (He did make sure the nurse knew he did not need any shots though!)
It does make me a little nervous that when people ask "now you know not to do that again, right?" his response is "why??".

Santa

We went to visit Santa this morning and got a really nice picture of him with Brogan (you'll notice Colby is not in the picture...he declared that maybe when he's bigger he'll sit on Santa's lap).

We tried to at least get him in the shot...and if there was audio on this picture you'd hear him screaming "NO NO NO!" at the top of his lungs, as well as the laughter of everyone in the store. Yup, bad parents!

Half a year...

Here's a sampling of Brogan's 6 month pictures. They were taken by Kammi of Elegant Images...she and her husband are amazing photographers...and also great friends of mine!

Future politician?? (I hope not!)

I think I've mentioned before that Colby isn't much for pictures anymore...so I'm thrilled that he gave us about 10 minutes to get a few with him as well!

Love this one!

Hmm...who's the baby here??

Me and my boys! (Well, the little ones at least!)

Food Glorious Food....

Brogan experienced his first dabble into the culinary world last night with some freshly prepared rice cereal...let's get his thoughts:

"Ohhh...something new to chew on...cool."

"Kind of strange, but I'll go with it."

"Hmm, not too sure about this anymore."

"Ewww, get it out now! What are you doing to me? I trusted you!!"

And finally, Steve's impression of Brogan...

Trick-or-Treat!

Halloween is a lot of fun with a 3 year old...and a little frustrating when said 3 year old refuses to wear a costume! (What little kid doesn't love to dress up?) It was a struggle, but we were finally able to get him dressed with a little bribery...and peer pressure. (That doesn't make us bad parents, right??!) ;)
It's also the first year Colby realized the candy he collects is edible...so Steve and I were nice enough to share all the ones we don't care for. We'll see how many more years we can get away with that!
The costume is half on...small victory!

Costume finally on, but don't even think about trying to get a picture!

Thankfully "the cow" had no problem wearing his costume!
I dread the day he stops falling for the "look Mickey Mouse is over there" trick!

All the cousins (+ 1 friend) patiently sitting for a couple pics before hitting the streets!

Finally a decent one!

Is it January already??

I still need to post some Disney pictures, but wanted to put some of the snow we got today first. Yes, it's mid-October and we have well over a foot of snow...and it's still coming down! (The weatherman promises it'll be in the 50s for trick-or-treating though!) I think this is a sign of what's to come this winter...though I can't really complain as we hardly got any snow at all last year.

Colby had a blast in the snow with the neighbors...as did Torreys. Brogan, not so much!

Ahhh, much happier nice and warm inside!

God's Zoo

Going to the zoo is one of our favorite things to do...although nothing beats seeing animals in their natural setting as we did this morning on our playgroup walk. I think Colby could have sat and watched the big horn sheep all day...and so could have I for that matter!

T.H.R.E.E.

Happy 3rd Colby! You are such an amazing kid...so easy to love and so full of personality. You are quick with a smile and have such love in your heart. God definitely knew what He was doing when He decided you were the kid for us.

Here's just a few things that make you...you:

You love spending time with daddy...whether it's playing outside, mowing the grass or building something together...

I think we could take away all your toys except your match box cars and you'd be happy. You can sit and park them all day long...with short breaks to jump on the couch (hence the ace bandage)!

You love your little brother with all your heart and always want to help me take care of him.

You try to help him learn new things....

and even try to be a big kid and help burp him!

(Okay, just thought this is a hysterical picture...Colby was pretending and Brogan moved his head just as I was taking the pic, so it just looks really bad!)

You're a wiz on the computer already.

Although your attention span is pretty short right now, you are clearly athletic! (So, if the computer thing doesn't work out hopefully you can make your millions in sports.) ;)

You love to help me clean and cook...

...and love to eat even more! (Seriously, I'm going to need a second job to pay the grocery bill when you're a teenager!)

You love to sing...
...even when you don't know the words!

Best of all, you're just plain goofy!

I love you for all of these things...and sooooo much more!
Love,
Mommy

Camping '09

We went on our annual family camping trip to Dillon Lake and had a great time and thankfully great weather the whole time.

Me and Brogster...

Bug catchin with cousin Harmon...

Watch out for this crew...

The tent trying to blow away...for the 2nd time! (It was a little windy!)
